"My must-have beauty essential isn't exactly a glamorous pick, but it's been an indispensable part of my arsenal for years. My mini Vaseline isn't just the cutest little thing ever— it has worked to heal and soothe my lips when they needed it most. I always have my lip therapy in my purse for on-the-go convenience, on my desk to get me through the workday or in my pocket to make sure my pout is looking kissable at all times. This innovative and inexpensive blend is a beauty staple that will never go out of style." —Samantha Faragalli, InStyle.com Beauty Intern
"Chalk it up to the sub-zero air conditioning running in the office or the fact that I'm constantly opening bags of products at my desk (tough life, I know), but I always find myself needing to slather on the hand cream. I'm obsessed with NCLA's Protect Your Jewels formula, which has the most indulgent coconut scent, and is super rich and hydrating. The fact that it's infused with actual sapphires also makes me feel a little bit like Mariah Carey, and that's basically what I aspire to be in life – you know, so glamorous to the point that it's borderline ridiculous." —Marianne Mychaskiw, InStyle.com Assistant Beauty Editor
"I always have Cle de Peau's amazing concealer in beige within reach. I blot moisturizer under my eyes as a primer and then swipe it right on. It's brightens up my complexion and it's a better pick me up than my 4PM latte." —Selene Milano, InStyle.com Beauty Editor
InStyle's Executive Editor Amy Synnott Shares Her Style Secrets
1. Invest in Wardrobe Staples, Splurge on Trendier Pieces
"My strategy is all about mixing high and low pieces. I usually invest in shoes and bags, then add trendy extras from places like Zara. It's funny because I often get the most compliments on the pieces from Zara!
Since my shoes tend to be where I invest more heavily, I often start there in terms of building an outfit. When I buy new clothes, I always mentally go through my shoe wardrobe to think about what would work with it."
2. When Shopping for Low-End Pieces, Go for Solids
"In general, when I shop at lower end places, I try to avoid buying prints (unless they are classics like stripes). I think the prints are too identifiable and, to me, they usually look a little bit more cheap than the solids. In general, I find myself buying less prints as a whole because I always seem to tire of them after a season or two (and sometimes, if it's a really recognizable print, they look dated after one season)."
3. Streamline Your Color Scheme
"I also tend to stick with a few different color schemes: lots of winter white, burgundy, navy, and camel. I know that sounds boring but I used to be all over the place and would buy a random green shirt here or a pair of hot pink pants there. But, then, I would never wear them because the only thing I had to go with them was black pants (yawn).
I've found that by focusing on a few colors that look good on me, I'm never stuck not having anything to wear with a new item. I do a lot of head-to-toe monochromatic looks. Obviously, I do wear black sometimes, but I think I wear it a lot less than most people in fashion. I am extremely pale so I find shades like winter white and navy to be more flattering for me. Black can look a bit severe against light complexions, especially as you get older."

Wearing white pants isn't exclusively reserved for warm weather and ever since the silly Labor Day rule was disproved, styling white pants has become fair game for all seasons. Another trend we've seen gain popularity over the years is monochromatic outfits. Sometimes wearing your favorite hue head-to-toe is the only way to go. So you can imagine our surprise when three InStyle staffers arrived to work wearing white pants in addition to matching their shoe color to their sweaters!
